Emeli Sande says she is "very happy" with her win at the Q Awards this week.
The 'Read All About It' singer managed to fend off competition from the likes of Grammy award-winning singer Adele to win Best Solo Artist at the annual award ceremony yesterday.
"This is a big one. It's a big competition, so it was really good. I'm very happy about this," Emeli said according to the Daily Record after her win.
"It feels really nice to get that type of acknowledgment."
Emeli has had a very successful year so far with her debut album Our Version of Events soaring to number one in the UK charts, in addition to performing at the London Olympics 2012 opening and closing ceremony.
The 24-year-old performed her new collaboration with Labrinth, 'Beneath Your Beautiful' last weekend and she has just announced that she will be heading on a UK tour in March 2013.
Congrats Emeli! Do you think she'll be able to match Adele's success?
