Ellie Goulding has admitted that she previewed the tracks from her new album to her ex-boyfriend DJ Greg James so that he didn't hear the songs about their split somewhere else.
The 'Anything Could Happen' singer dated Radio 1 DJ Greg for 18 months, but they split last year claiming their hectic work schedules kept them apart. Ellie, whose new album Halcyon is released this week, says that she worried Greg would hear the tracks somewhere else and would get offended that she didn't tell him first.
"The last record I felt like I was singing about stuff like that and I thought it was really sincere but I listen back and I think, God that was really naive, that was nothing," Ellie told The Sun.
"This time it's the real deal. There's stuff about Greg. I played it to him because I felt that was better than him hearing it randomly somewhere."
Ellie is now happily dating American dubstep DJ Skrillex and reveals how their romance blossomed.
"I met him because we emailed for a bit and we did a track together then we met in Memphis. I was out there for something, I remember out of impulse just getting on a flight and going to Memphis," Ellie added.
"Nothing happened or anything, but I hung out with him and his friends and just had the best night ever. That was kind of the beginning really. He is a lovely guy, he really is."
Halycon is released on October 5.
