One Direction have refused to make an appearance on The X Factor in a bid to boost the show's flailing ratings.
Simon Cowell's staple ITV show has so far failed to impress the audience with viewing figures dropping each week, since the new series began in August.
Apparently, Simon believed bringing in one of the show's most successful former contestants would help attract a bigger audience, however, group member Niall Horan says he doesn't believe they qualify to take up seats on the panel.
"We don’t feel like we are in a position to be giving strong advice," Niall said according to The Sun.
The 'One Thing' singers recently joined Ronan Keating as guest judges on the Australian version of the talent show, with Harry Styles describing their stint as "really cool and fun."
What do you think Simon should do to boost ratings?
