Mika has explained how he came to collaborate with record producer Pharrell Williams on his new single 'Celebrate.'
The 29-year-old 'Grace Kelly' hitmaker revealed that the Neptunes musician was ''intrigued'' by the song, which was co-produced by Empire of the Sun’s Nick Littlemore.
During an interview with Blunt Talking, Mika, real name, Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr, said:
''I think Pharrell had heard what I was doing and was quite intrigued.
''He contacted me through a mutual friend and we met up and wrote this sad song called 'China Boy.'
''Then I took it to Nick Littlemore from Empire, we reworked it and turned it into 'Celebrate.' It was just happy chaos theory,'' added the singer.
The video for 'Celebrate,' an upbeat visual directed by BB-Gun, has already been released, and was shot in New York.
Discussing his third studio album The Origin of Love, the singer confessed that he wanted to create something that sounded ''fresh,'' adding:
''(I wanted) something that felt like an evolution. It just took time because I needed to live a bit of life.''
The singer recently released a series of previews from his upcoming record, which is due for release on October 8.
