Grammy-winning singer Lady Gaga invited a cluster of her celebrity pals to watch her sleep at the Guggenheim Museum, to mark the end of New York Fashion Week, as well as the launch of her 'Fame' fragrance.
The controversial pop diva made a dramatic entrance to the masquerade black-tie end of show bash at around 6.30pm, avoiding the red carpet where paparazzi weren’t expecting her for another hour.
The 'Bad Romance' songstress had arrived purposely early as she wanted to prepare for her performance art piece, entitled, 'Sleeping With Gaga,' according to reports from The New York Daily.
The source also revealed that guests for her sleepy art piece were extremely limited, as ''she (Gaga) personally decided who got the nod for invitations and who couldn’t come.''
At around 9pm, Gaga climbed into her bed for the piece - which was a strange egg/claw structure - and allowed some of her star guests, including Jason Wu, Paris Hilton and Marc Jacobs, to poke her through strategic holes whilst she slept.
Forty-five minutes later, the 26-year-old emerged from the egg, which was when assistants stripped her down to lingerie and thigh highs.
The avant guard star then began receiving a tattoo on the back of her neck, which was screened live on a giant TV screen.
The whole event was apparently in aid of her new perfume, which she wants to smell ''like an expensive hooker.''
