Rapper Will.i.am has reportedly signed up to mentor fresh new talent on The X Factor USA.
The quirky 37-year-old, who has previous experience as a singing coach after mentoring on The Voice UK, will assist new judge Britney Spears in the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition, according to TV Guide.
Both Spears and the Black Eyed Peas singer have worked together in the past, after he helped her on her seventh studio album Femme Fatale, as well as the pair having recently recorded a new track rumoured to be titled 'Sexy Sexy Sexy' for his forthcoming solo LP #willpower.
The news about the 'OMG' singer being handpicked by Spears to guest mentor on the contest comes just days after former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole (whose management team includes Will.i.am) changed her mind about never being on the show again.
The 29-year-old decided to make a comeback on the show to help mentor UK judge Gary Barlow’s batch of contestants on the UK version of the show, filming their segment on Sept 8.
The X Factor USA’s second season has a two-part premiere on Fox on Sept 12 and 13, 2012, at 8pm Eastern/Pacific time.
