Beyonce says she often sings lullabys to her eight-month-old daughter Blue Ivy, but describes the songs she makes up as "corny".

The 'Run The World (Girls)' singer gave birth to her first child in January and has clearly taken to motherhood smoothly, revealing to Anderson Cooper in a recent interview that being a mother is her "purpose" in life.

"It just gives you purpose and all of the things my self-esteem was associated with, it’s all completely different," Beyonce explained.

"I realised why I was born and more than anything, all of the things I want to pass on to my child. The best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her, but showing her by example, which is one of the reasons I’m here."

The 31-year-old also added that she sings nursery rhymes to Blue.

"I make up a lot of crazy, corny songs," she added.
