Remember when Cheryl was on the panel?
Beyoncé has NOT been offered $500 million to be a judge on The X Factor USA, insists Simon Cowell.
Steve Jones, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger have been axed ahead of the second season of the US X Factor. And that can only mean one thing... lots of fun guessing who'll be their replacements, that's what!
From Beyonce to Mariah Carey, it seems that we've gone through every single dreamy possibility. But Simon Cowell is keen to put rumours to rest, stating that he does NOT want A-Listers on the judging panel.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cowell explained that he wants to keep it about the talent, not the showbiz:
"When we first launched [Pop] Idol in the UK years ago, we didn't think for one second there had to be an A-list star on the panel. Everyone on the panel was really unknown. Firstly, they are incredibly expensive - that is millions you lose on something else. Secondly, they have to make the time commitment and on my show, they have to work five days a week.Thirdly, they have to be interesting… I'm not playing this game where we have to compete on the level of A-lister stars… you can lose focus on what the show is all about, and at the end of the day the most important thing is the contestants."
So does that mean no Mariah? Even worse, does that mean no Beyonce?
"I read that online that I offered [Beyoncé] $100 million (£63 million) a year. The budget for the show is $100 million. That would never, ever happen. It's absolute nonsense… Even if you had that kind of money. I wouldn't spend $100 million on one person."
Really? No Beyonce? That sucks; we were really hoping to see Queen B shake things up with her sassy no-nonsense attitude.
We guess we'll all just have to wait and see who'll be passing judgement on the contestants when the X Factor USA shake-up returns later this year...
