Etta James may no longer be with us, but that doesn't mean that the Recording Academy are going to forget all about her...
Etta James recently passed away after her battle with leukaemia and, as is utterly appropriate, the Recording Academy have decided to pay their respects to the iconic R&B star with a tribute at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Alicia Keys has been confirmed as the live tribute act to Etta at this year's Grammy Awards. The 'New York' singer definitely has the powerful vocals necessary to hit Etta's highest notes, but we have yet to know which song she will tackle.
Christina Aguilera already performed 'At Last' at James' funeral, whilst Kelly Clarkson is well known for blasting out 'I'd Rather Go Blind'; will Keys take on one of Etta's lesser known hits, or add her own spin to one of these two power ballads?
Alicia has made no secret of Etta's influence on her own musical career, taking to Twitter on the day of the R&B singer's death to pay homage to her career:
“Wow Etta James! :- ( What a phenomenal woman and spectacular voice!”
We can't wait to see Alicia pay tribute to Etta; we've got no doubt in our mind that her performance will be an amazing and worthy homage to the late singer.
