The inquest into Amy Winehouse's death could be declared 'null and void' after a mix up involving the coroners involved in the case.
A 2011 inquest, ruled by Inner North London Coroner Dr Andrew Scott Reid, declared death by 'misadventure' for the 27 year old 'Back To Black' star. However, Reid was assisted on the enquiry by his wife,Suzanne Greenaway, who it has emerged did not have the required experience to legally carry out the job.
The Sun reports that Greenaway resigned in November after being made aware of the fact that she had served just half of the requisite five years in the Law Society as a solicitor.
Reid is quouted as saying: "In November it became apparent I'd made an error in the appointment process. While I am confident that all of the inquests handled were done so correctly, I apologise if this matter causes distress."
As a result, all thirty cases Greenaway and Reid worked on (including the Winehouse case) could be declared illegal and would need to be repeated by a new coroner.
