Friends of Rihanna have said that her wild week in Hawaii, which involved drinking and tattoos, were a reaction to having her heart broken by her ex, Chris Brown.

The 'We Found Love' star was seen smoking a suspicious looking cigarette before showing off her latest tattoo - the phrase 'Thug Life' on her knuckles - whilst on holiday last week. Now those close to her have said there is nothing to worry about and that the hard working star is just having fun.

"Right now she's just letting off steam," a source told Look magazine.

"Ri's been working hard and has just had her heart broken by Chris [Brown] again, so it's natural she wants to get drunk and go a bit wild. But we're all sure she'll get back to her usual happy self once she gets home and back into her routine."

It is believed that Rihanna became upset after Brown got the face of his girlfriend Karreche Tran tattooed on his arm.
