Lady Gaga has swapped performing at sold out shows for hours of hard graft helping out in her father's kitchen.

Gaga has been chopping onions and giving menu advice to her dad, Joe Germanotta, as he prepares for the grand opening of his new Italian restaurant in New York. No doubt Gaga has been to a enough fancy restaurants in her time to offer a few tips.

A source told The Sun, "It's a real family effort. They've all been getting stuck in."

Indeed; the 'Born This Way' singer's design expert sister, Natali, is reportedly in charge of wall decorations.

Mr Germanotta is happy for his famous daughter to help out but he does have moments of real concern. 

"She's left-handed and every time I watch her chop, it makes me cringe," he said.

He also revealed the new restaurant, Joanne Trattoria, will not be a storage facility for Gaga's many awards.

Germanotta told the New York Times, "If they're expecting to come in here and see Grammys and pictures and stuff like that, it's not going to happen. [But] she generates a lot of sizzle."

The menu features a ten-layer lasange, Grandma Rosie's meatballs and Nutella doughnuts.
