Madonna has missed out on an Academy Award nomination, despite picking up a Golden Globe earlier this month.
It had been rumoured that Madge would pick up a nod in the Best Original Song category but her song 'Masterpiece', taken from the 'W.E.' soundtrack, was ineligble as it was not the first song used on the films credits.
Speaking to MTV News earlier this week, Madonna was prepared and said: "I would be really grateful if it did (get nominated), but if it doesn't, I got the Super Bowl — keep on going,"
Instead, just two songs are in the running for the Best Original Song award. Man or Muppet from Brett Mckenzie will represent The Muppets whilst 'Real' from the movie Rio will be its competition.
The 2012 Academy Awards take place on February 26th at LA's Kodak Theatre.
