One of Amy Winehouse's closest friends is believed to be appearing in the UK version of The Voice as a contestant.

Tyler James, who was often seen by Amy's side and has spoken about his relationship with the late star since her death last year, is looking to revive his career on the BBC talent show after being dropped from his record label some years ago.

James is believed to have auditioned for judges Jessie J, Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Danny Donoghue recently and they were impressed with what they saw.

"There has been some amazing talent auditioning so artists who had deals in the past must still be of a top standard to compete," a source told The Sun.

It was confirmed yesterday that Amy's family are to stage a tribute concert in her honour this Summer.
