Stars such as Rihanna and Beyonce have paid tribute to Etta James, after she passed away on Frida (Jan 20).
The 'I'd Rather Go Blind' star, who is believed to have died of complications from leukemia aged 73, was a huge influence on many of today's stars and Beyonce was the first to pay tribute to the singer she portrayed on screen in Cadillac Records.
"This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time," she wrote. "I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime," she wrote on her website.
"Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph.
"Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed."
Meanwhile, Rihanna Tweeted to say: "#DearEtta may you rest in peace", whilst Kelly Clarkson performed 'At Last' during her Radio City Music Hall concert in New York over the weekend.
Lady Gaga declared that, "Tonight I will have one whole quart of brandy for Etta."
'At Last', Etta James most iconic song, returned to the Official UK Charts yesterday - hitting number 39 just twenty four hours after news of her death was announced.
