Ricky Gervais has been targetted by Justin Bieber fans online after the comedian poked fun at the teen star at the Golden Globes this week.

Controversial comic Gervais referenced Bieber's 2011 paternity case in his opening monologue at the annual movie event, held in Los Angeles this Sunday (Jan 15). He claimed that any test 'would have been a waste' because Justin would need one of Martha Stewart's turkey basters to get a girl pregnant.

Unsuprisingly, this has upset Bieber's millions of fans and Gervais revealed he was running scared yesterday.

‘Getting out of town now. Bieber fans aren’t happy with me,’ he Tweeted. Adding: ‘That’s some scary sh** Ha ha. Bye LA. hello NY!’

Gervais then posted a picture of himself with a fluffy dog toy, claiming that was all the protection he needed from the Beliebers.
