After three nights of rioting across London, and reports of disturbances in other major cities last night, Calvin Harris has appealed for musicians to discourage further rioting.

The 'Bounce' star took to Twitter, tweeting to his 500,000, 'A lot of these kids have role models in music + a lot of these role models are staying quiet. They need to speak the f**k up +help stop this'.

He also added: 'Imagine how the olympics are gonna look next year...riot squad everywhere...who's going to want to visit UK now...economy will be destroyed'.

Other celebrities that took to Twitter to share their views included Lily Allen, who tweeted: 'Thatcher's Grandchildren are rioting and a bigger depression approaches #reallysadface' and 'I don't think this is about tellys and trainers, the youth are frustrated and I can see why'.

Jessie J also tweeted: 'In my opinion we need to discussing how to prevent this happening again. Really understanding why these people have done this...Young & old'.

The riots began in Tottenham on Saturday (6th August) in response to the shooting of Mark Duggan, which then spread to Enfield and Islington on Sunday.  Last night (8th August), Hackney, Croydon and Clapham were affected, as well as other parts of London.  There have also been riots in other major cities including Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol.
