Goldfrapp have announced that they will be releasing their new single, Alive in limited edition cassette format.

Goldfrapp are no stranger to doing things a bit differently; lead singer Alison was wearing multicoloured 8inch platform shoes long before Lady GaGa exploded onto the scene.

She told the Daily Star that some fans haven't been too appreciative of the band's new direction, but that she doesn't care: “Tough sh*t. Most of our fans know how we like to change our spots. But some have been a bit abusive on forums.”

Alive will be released on April 17th, which is also Record Store Day, in case you didn't already know.

This is a lovely idea, but we don't have a cassette player anymore, but we do have a favourite new Goldfrapp song. It's a euphoric track called Dreaming, and you can listen to the 'trailer' below.
